ABB Land, have fun with ABB robots together

2011-10-20 - ABB robots will show up at CIIF 2011 with a brand new look

Introduction: ABB robots polish metal components of iPhone? ABB robots handle Coca Cola? ABB robots danced in a vocal concert as a guest? ABB robots starred in a Hollywood blockbuster? ABB robots provide automated luggage storage and retrieval for hotel guests? ABB robots sort luggage at the airport? ABB robots classify books in a library?

Human beings have been longing and going for robots for over 3,000 years, hoping to create some kind of machine to work for them.

Karel Čapek, a Czech writer, introduced the word “robot” into the English language from Czech Robota which means forced or hard worker and Polish Robotnik which means worker in his science fiction Rossum's Universal Robots 1920. In his words, the robots can work night and day without eating or break.

As the social developed and industry was subdivided, as shown in the movie Modern Times, people felt being alienated with different occupational diseases. They were more eager than ever for a machine to do the repetitive, boring or dangerous work for them.

The American Devol introduced Industrial Robot in 1954. Engelberger made the world's first industrial robot in 1959; ABB introduced the world's first commercially available all electric micro-processor controlled robot IRB 6 in 1974, which ended the history of hydraulic and pneumatic robots and started a new round revolution in industrial automation.

Industrial robot refers to articulated manipulator or multi-degree-of-freedom robot for industrial applications. As a result of scientific and technical development, industrial robots are always used to do tedious and dangerous work on cold dull industrial production lines mechanically. They cannot do housework like a lovable intelligent robot, or set indoor temperature and humidity for the host like a vivid agile domestic robot.

With improving productivity and increasing automation demands, industrial robots are used in more and more applications. Today industrial robot is no longer a rare word in the living glossary. It is just behind our daily life, working tirelessly on the production line for improving our life and health.

Have you ever noticed that how many indirect connections with ABB robots you have in a single day? When you wake up in the morning and take up your toothbrush, you have already joined the happy journey with ABB robots. From food & beverage, the 3C’s, furniture & wood and building industry to automotive, air & space, railway transport, solar, wind, etc., ABB robots are widely used in welding, handling, assembly, painting, trimming, picking, packing, palletizing, machine tending...

When you are taking a lift up and down in your office building, ABB robots provide you with safer riding; when you are enjoying a coffee break with your colleague, you will find the coffee is also “made” by a robot because robotic coffee packing process has been used in major coffee plants; ABB robots make your notebook more colorful because more than 80% of notebook cases worldwide are painted by ABB robots; the popular iPod also uses excellent laser welding system of ABB robots to weld the front plate to the back one precisely; in the M&M plant, ABB’s spider robot is picking chocolate gently and quickly....

Today robotics appears in all manufacturing applications as a typical representative and main technical method of information and advanced manufacturing technologies. Industrial robot does not belong to manufacturing terminology any longer. As the demand for value addition and flexible solution explodes, robots have been an important part of our daily life.

Let’s meet at ABB booth and have fun in CIIF 2011. The interactive game with our robot will show you new products and technologies of ABB robots and more stories behind your everyday life. Enjoy yourself!

Conclusion: No matter you know or not, ABB robots are just there, connecting to our life so closely. No matter how much you know, ABB robots are still there, working day and night for us tirelessly. Let’s meet in Shanghai Kangqiao or your workshop to improve efficiency, energy and environment. ABB robots – for your better life!ABB robots - for your colorful life!
