The FISCO (Fieldbus Intrinsically Safe Concept) model
provides easy and fast design and operation of
PROFIBUS PA or FOUNDATION Fieldbus-H1 installations
in hazardous areas !
Requirements:
ü | Devices certified acc. to FISCO (EC-Type-Examination certificate)
Certification institutes: e.g. PTB, BVS, KEMA, FM, CSA |
ü | Vail for every field device (Ui, Ii, Pi):
U0<Ui, I0<Ii, P0<Pi |
ü | Cable parameter observed (R, L, C) = Type A fieldbus cable |
ü | Line terminations correct |
ü | Total length of one PROFIBUS PA or FOUNDATION Fieldbus-H1
line (incl. stubs) max. 1000 meters
- in case of Multibarrier max. 1900 meters |
Advantages of using the FISCO model in hazardous areas:
- Plug & Play in the hazardous area
- System certification not required
- Simple expansion of your application
- Maximum connecting devices
- Reduced costs
- No new calculation needed when changing devices
History:
In the mid 90's four parties came together to create the FISCO (
Fieldbus
Intrinsically
Safe
Concept) model. The parties were: the PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt), the national institute of natural and engineering sciences in Germany, the automation technology manufacturer, ABB Inc. as one of the driving force behind it, the chemical industry and the PROFIBUS International organization. Since 2001 the Fieldbus Foundation has also taken part in development and support of the FISCO model.
